Backhaul container shippers lose influence
Despite surging freight rates, exporters using backhaul trades are paying relatively less than importers
Exports account for little of the full rate for a roundtrip voyage. Carriers will logically favour more profitable head haul customers, but risk regulatory intervention for doing so
