World Steel Association sees softening in steel demand

Some analysts deem the association’s forecast too optimistic given the prolonged nature of the heavy-handed Covid-19 lockdowns in China, which accounts for more than half of the world’s steel consumption

The WSA expects the growth of global steel demand to slow to 0.4% this year. Some analysts disagree, arguing the situation is likely to be worse amid disruption from China’s oppressive lockdown policies and uncertainties surrounding the situation in Ukraine
