New members for Lloyd’s List Editorial Board

The advisory panel now has representation in more key areas around the world than ever before

Set up four years ago to provide oversight and ensure Lloyd’s List remains the most trusted and authoritative provider of maritime news and analysis, the expanded Editorial Board now has an unrivalled depth of expertise and industry knowledge

THE Lloyd’s List Editorial Board has been strengthened with the addition of three new members this year.

They will join an already influential group of maritime industry leaders who bring a wide range of knowledge and expertise to the board, that now has representation in key regions around the world.

The Editorial Board was set up in 2018 with the aim of ensuring Lloyd’s List remains the most trusted and respected provider of maritime news and analysis, and the principal source of market intelligence and insight for all those working in the shipping industry and related business sectors.

Since it was established, the board has played an active role supporting the editorial team with feedback on what is of interest to subscribers, market trends, new topics and other industry developments. However, they have no control over the published content, and remain strictly neutral as far as any companies or organisations to which they are affiliated are concerned.

The three new board members are Amie Pascoe, director of BLUE Communications; Melbourne-based Teresa Lloyd, chief executive of Maritime Industry Australia; and Su Yin Anand, a Singapore-based lawyer who is head of shipping at the Australian mining company South32.

“Amie, Teresa and Su Yin will bring new skill sets to the team,” said Janet Porter, who chairs the board. “All three have a tremendous amount of industry knowhow and experience between them, while Teresa and Su Yin will strengthen the board’s presence in Australia and Asia.”

Board members have played a particularly valuable role during the pandemic, with ideas about how to cover industry developments during such an unprecedented period, while they are also an important resource for Lloyd’s List journalists.

“Every member of the advisory group remains passionate about shipping and determined to ensure there is a vibrant, authoritative and forward-thinking maritime press that holds the industry to account,” said Ms Porter.

The board helps to ensure that Lloyd’s List editorial content remains closely aligned to the requirements of those working in maritime, while adhering to the highest journalistic standards of accuracy, quality and transparency.

“Lloyd’s List is part of the shipping industry. It is a position of trust we have established over nearly 300 years, and it is built on the highest standards of accuracy, quality and transparency. By establishing an independent Editorial Board of industry experts, the intention is to uphold those fundamental values while building greater and deeper connections with the industry we serve,” said Lloyd’s List editor Richard Meade.
