Salvors assess New Diamond fire damage
A team of three salvors managed to board the fire-damaged very large crude carrier New Diamond for an initial inspection before being joined by another six on Wednesday. Separately, 17 more salvors boarded the ship on Thursday
The Sri Lankan Navy says salvage operations are being conducted in rough sea conditions about 50 nautical miles off Kalmunai, where the fire-stricken ship is located. The authorities confirm the fuel slick detected nearby the vessel was not caused by a crude oil leak from the VLCC
