California targets shipping in crackdown on emissions in ports
The rule for ships requires every vessel coming into a regulated Californian port to use shore power or state-approved control technology to reduce harmful emissions
The approvals come despite earlier requests from the state’s maritime community, which had sought a delay in the implementation of the new regulations due to the adverse impacts of the coronavirus pandemic
