DSME secures $748m Russian Arctic LNG transhipment order
The floating liquefied natural gas barges are meant to be a facility to tranship LNG from LNG icebreakers to LNG carriers and will be delivered to the area between Murmansk and the Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia by the end of 2022. Yamal LNG operator Novatek has previously been reported to be in talks to set up transhipment hubs in Norway or Murmansk
The facilities would help transport Arctic LNG to markets in Europe and Asia much more quickly and lower the operating cost of LNG carriers
