The panel of industry leaders and experts was set up in 2018 to ensure Lloyd’s List remains the most trusted and authoritative provider of maritime news and analysis, and the principal source of market intelligence and insight for all those working in the shipping industry and related business sectors
MARITIME technology expert Daryl Williamson is joining the Lloyd’s List Editorial Board, bringing an added dimension to the extensive industry knowledge and experience of existing members.
The board was established two years ago to ensure Lloyd’s List remains the most trusted and authoritative provider of maritime news and analysis, and the principal source of market intelligence and insight for all those working in the shipping industry and related business sectors.
Mr Williamson, who retired as commercial development director at Lloyd’s List Intelligence last week, spent almost 30 years at Lloyd’s List, supporting maritime commercial and government customers in a variety of technical and business roles. He worked with every sector of the industry, delivering maritime security information services and developing software tools for governments and businesses throughout the world.
“It has been a privilege to have worked with so many knowledgeable people key to the evolution of our industry,” said Mr Williamson. “The pace of technological change, faster now, is set to increase while political and environmental issues raise public awareness of our domain.”
His broad industry experience includes managing information technology and consultancy projects and the practical application of technology to business and to maritime security.
Mr Williamson was instrumental in ensuring Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s user mainframe systems were internet-ready prior to the commercial acceptance of the Web. He is the principal architect of Lloyd’s List Intelligence - Vigilance Vessel Risk Profiling System and a regular speaker at commercial and government conferences.
He continues his work with big data visualisation, maritime risk profiling, anomaly detection and as a keynote speaker, in addition to his new board activities.
“I look forward to working with Lloyd’s List’s Editorial Board and its editors to spotlight the intelligence and insight required during interesting times,” Mr Williamson said.
The board’s mandate is to help guide content and ensure that Lloyd’s List continues to answer the questions that matter most to the industry. Its members are recognised maritime industry leaders and experts who provide feedback and guidance on all aspects of Lloyd’s List’s editorial output via regular meetings and communications with editors.
