GRIs halt transpacific rate slide

The SCFI shows spot rate gains of nearly $300 per 40 ft box on the transpacific trade this week, as carriers’ ongoing capacity management pays dividends. Although carriers were unable to achieve ambitious GRIs of as much as $1,000, the rate lift could prove vital as contract negotiations draw to a close

Asia-US west coast and Asia-US east coast spot rates on the SCFI have climbed to $1,626 and $2,634 per feu, respectively
