Union pushes for increase in seafarer minimum wage

The global minimum wage for seafarers is $614 per month for a 48-hour week. But citing extensive overtime and a decrease in spending power, trade union Nautilus International will pursue a monthly boost of up to $50 in the minimum wage during negotiations with shipowners at the International Labour Organisation this week

The shipping trade union’s general secretary will be leading negotiations with shipowners in Geneva this week
