IMO agrees EEDI changes amid tough negotiations
Environmental negotiators were reminded just how difficult discussions over shipbuilding efficiency can be. While the IMO's Marine Environment Committee made ample progress this week, the next MEPC convening in May will likely have to settle future rules for large tankers and bulkers, as well as all other types of vessels
The MEPC has agreed to push forward Energy Efficiency Design Index phase 3 for containerships and general cargo vessels to 2022 but disagreed emerged over tankers, bulkers and other vessels
