The Lloyd’s List Podcast: The week ahead

Listen to the first edition of Lloyd’s List’s new weekly podcast — your weekly briefing on the stories shaping shipping in the week ahead.

Next steps in cutting carbon | Plugging shipping’s gender pay gap | Container line’s digital ambitions vs shipper’s reality

LLOYD’S LIST has launched a new podcast. Each week our senior editors and correspondents will examine the events shaping the shipping industry and offer the inside track on the topics setting the news agenda for the week ahead.

In this week’s edition:

• It is over a month since the International Maritime Organization managed to wrestle an agreement out of governments to halve emissions from shipping by at least 50% before 2050. But now the real work begins as the industry and governments start to hammer out the details of what happens next. Lloyd’s List’s editor Richard Meade leads the debate on whether the industry really has the clarity it needs to start investing in an imminent zero-carbon future.

• Also on this week’s podcast, we will be examining why the shipping sector still has a long way to go when it comes to plugging the gender pay gap.

• And we ask whether the container sector is trying to run a marathon before it can walk when it comes to data and the digitally-fuelled aspirations to move up the value chain into logistics.
