Freshly minted Maersk Kendal is named in South Korea
MAERSK is adding to its UK flag fleet with the arrival of the 6,200 teu Maersk Kendal, which was named in South Korea earlier this month. The ship will be deployed in Maersk Line’s AE3 Asia-Europe service from the end of July. The UK shipowning arm of Denmark’s AP Moller-Maersk group will then have 63 ships on the British register after taking into account the imminent sale of four T-class vessels, the 1990-built 1,300 teu Tobias Maersk, Trein Maersk, Torben Maersk and Thorkil Maersk. Maersk Kendal was built by Hanjin Heavy Industries and named by In-sook Roussel, wife of Christopher Roussel, international sourcing and logistics director for the UK supermartet giant Tesco.
