State of the maritime nation

1. Leif Hoegh/Thor Jørgen Guttormsen, President of Leif Höegh & Co Ltd:"The maritime transportation industry must prepare itself for stronger focus from society on environmental issues. 90 per cent of the global movements of goods are carried by ship, and this is the most environmentally effective mode of transportation. Still we must admit that vessel propulsion is a considerable and growing (with growing trade) source of unwanted emissions to air. This constitute a huge challenge for the industry who should face the challenge and be proactive. For the Norwegian maritime cluster it is an opportunity to lead the way."
