LLOYD’S List today begins running a new weekly index prepared by Drewry Shipping Consultants, measuring spot market freight rates from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, in terms of dollars per loaded 40ft container. This will be complemented by a global freight rate index published every two months, along with two additional indices covering freight rates for European import and export cargo.
