Mersey group says rates hikes ignore social costs
MORE than 30,000 jobs, £612m ($902.6m) of gross value added (GVA) and £750m of household income are under threat because of the government’s new business rating system for ports, new figures have suggested — compared with a net gain to the government from the new system of about £8m, writes Felicity Landon.
