UKD upgrades fleet with ‘flexible’ addition
FOLLOWING several months of consultation after more than a year of discussions and planning, UK Dredging, a division of Associated British Ports, has announced the latest upgrade to its fleet of dredgers — with the order of a new vessel to be constructed by Dutch firm Barkmeijer Shipyards. The newbuilding, worth in excess of £16m ($31.5m), is designed to replace the 22-year-old 1,744 tonne trailer suction dredger UKD Dolphin.
