FILE under pluck. Our newspaper reported on Monday that, riding on the Lisbon Treaty, Brussels is seeking a greater say in decision making by the International Maritime Organization. The European Commission is arguing that the treaty establishes that the Union — a combination of the institutions and member states — should be represented in all international organisations. Only the commission currently has observer status with the IMO.
