Congressman aims to plug Jones Act loophole over foreign conversions
DEMOCRATIC Congressman Gene Taylor, from the shipbuilding state of Mississippi, has introduced a proposed amendment that would in effect bar Jones Act ships from being converted at foreign shipyards while still retaining their eligibility under the US cabotage law, writes Rajesh Joshi .
