Growing Asry responds to changing demand
Bahrain is pushing ahead with further investment in the Opec-owned Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard, which was opened in the late 1970s to serve the growing number of large oil tankers in the region. Although tankers now account for 25% of the repair work, the yard’s 4,500-strong workforce can be working on up to 25 vessels at any one time.
