Early warning of something nasty
FOR years mariners have depended on their charts and sailing directions to provide warnings of hazards, and in general, these are very effective. If you take note of the warnings of offlying rocks, or a current setting you onto the land, or the unpredictable weather conditions, the chances are you will be well prepared for them.
