Fincantieri floats Silver Spirit
FINCANTIERI may be having trouble securing new orders, but its Italian yards at least have work for the immediate future. In Ancona on Friday, the company floated out Silversea’s latest luxury cruiseship, Silver Spirit, at a ceremony at the yard. The 36,000 tonne vessel, which has capacity for 540 guests, all in suites, will now undergo final outfitting prior to a December delivery. Separately, Friday also saw the delivery at Fincantieri’s Muggiano yard in Liguria of UOS Atlantis, the first of 12 anchor-handling, towing and supply vessels on order for Hartmann Logistik. The 76.5 m long, 3,000 dwt vessels come with four diesel engines capable of generating 12,000 kW, a maximum speed of 16.3 knots and a bollard pull of 188 tonnes. The remaining ships, which are also to be built at nearby Riva Trigoso and at the company’s Palermo yard, are due for delivery by the middle of next year.
