Applications invited for Trustee Directors of the Ensign Retirement Plan 

The Trustee of the Ensign Retirement Plan (“Ensign”) is seeking two employer representatives to bring their expertise to the Trustee Board. 
Ensign was established in 2015 and is the only authorised master trust specifically designed for employers and employees with a connection to the maritime industry. Ensign has grown significantly since 2015, currently boasting over 60 employers, 4,500 members and £150m of member assets. For more information about Ensign, please visit www.ensignpensions.com

The Board of Trustees for Ensign currently comprises three member nominated directors and three employer nominated directors. As two of the current employer nominated directors have completed their initial five-year term of appointment, invitations are now invited for two employer nominated directors on the Trustee Board. 

Candidates will ideally have previous experience of serving on the board of a master trust which is a relevant multi-employer scheme, with non-associated employers and will have knowledge of master trust legislation and regulations. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to influence the development of a high-quality master trust and influence the retirement savings of thousands of individuals. Candidates will also need to demonstrate that they meet the qualities of a ‘fit and proper’ person. Further details of what it means to be ‘fit and proper’ can be found in the Pension Regulator’s code of practice no.15, available at www.tpr.gov.uk.  

Successful applicants to the role of trustee director should be committed to attend approximately four board or sub-committee meetings each year, with most meetings taking place in London. The role of Trustee Director is not remunerated (except for expenses) unless the candidate is appointed either as Chair or Vice-Chair.
