Lloyd’s List Ask the Analysts webinar: APAC markets outlook and credit risk

In the second of our monthly Ask the Analyst webinar series, the focus turns to the outlook for markets in Asia and our view on mounting credit risk.

When Lloyd’s List launched a regular Ask the Analyst webinar last month we were bombarded with questions on everything from coronavirus to consolidation. This month we will be focused on Asia where the conversation will focus on the market outlook via our team of editorial experts based in Hong Kong and Singapore. We will also be joined this month by our credit team to answer your questions on counterparty risk.

Trust is high on the agenda right now in shipping. In the wake of the Hin Leong bankruptcy, the credit-worthiness of counterparties seeking extensions is being weighed up against the more pragmatic daily decisions of how to sustain ‘challenging market conditions’ where ideal scenarios are few and far between.

Questions abound regarding the red flags that companies should be looking out for which is why this month’s Lloyd’s List Ask the Analyst Webinar will include contributions from the Lloyd’s List Intelligence Credit team who will be on hand to offer their insight into the good, the bad and outright risky.

Following on from last month’s webinar where we offered the shipping industry the opportunity to ask our experts any questions on any aspect of the industry’s currently turbulent agenda, the team will be back on Thursday 28 May at 16:00 Singapore time / 9am UK to answer more of your questions.

This month we are focusing on Asia, although we will happily take your questions on any aspect of the industry.

The coronavirus outbreak has severely impacted the whole shipping sector, cutting turnover and raising the spectre of large reductions in the workforce and investment, but in Asia there is at least some sense of optimism, so we are intrigued to see what topics you will be directing us towards this month.

So far, we have received your questions on everything from the financing power behind China's lead in yard race to the fate of Asia’s seafarers as the industry struggles to smooth out crew change restrictions.

You can add your questions by registering for the free webinar here or by clicking on the banner below.

The full panel is below:

  • Richard Meade, Editor, Lloyd’s List

  • Vassilis Mitrelis, Credit Risk Manager, Lloyd’s List Intelligence

  • Vincent Wee, Asia News Editor, Lloyd’s List

  • Cichen Shen, China Editor, Lloyd’s List

  • Hwee Hwee Tan, Senior Correspondent, Lloyd’s List

  • Inderpreet Walia, Dry Bulk Reporter, Lloyd’s List

We will aim to answer as many questions as we can during the webinar by utilising our extensive Lloyd’s List Intelligence data combined with editorial expertise. If we are unable to address them all, we will endeavor to provide answers through follow up articles and analysis on the Lloyd’s List website.

So, get your questions in as soon as possible, ask us about your market conundrums or simply tell us where you want us to be aiming our combined editorial firepower over the coming weeks.

The Lloyd’s List Ask the Analysts Webinars will take monthly. Times will alternate between Asia Pacific and EMEA/US slots. Webinars will be free to attend but registration is required. Please submit all questions via the registration form here.
