Winter slack season subdues box charter market

Fixture inactivity stalls box time charter equivalent progress, but limited supply is ensuring daily rates hold firm across much of the market. Scrubber retrofits remain the driving force behind a sparse spot pool, but with many ships scheduled for drydocking there is growing optimism the tonnage shortage will continue to prop up the market far into 2020

Although brokers are reporting little action in the market, charter rates remain stable across most ship sizes with only marginal variations being seen on certain fixtures
