First fine imposed for sulphur cap non-compliance
A court in Marseilles fined the master of a P&O cruiseship $113,000 on Monday after prosecutors argued that he knowingly used fuel that was 0.18% above the European limit. A spokesperson for the P&O parent Carnival Group said the company was very disappointed and would appeal, having been explicitly told by the French Environment Ministry that the offence was based on a European law that would not apply to cruiseships
