IMO pushes ahead with 2020 fuel carriage ban

The International Maritime Organization is set to adopt its strongest tool in starting to impose the enforcement of the 2020 sulphur cap. The IMO’s environmental committee is expected to officially adopt the ban on the carriage of non-compliant fuel oil for use by vessels that do not have scrubbers on Friday. The IMO agreed the ban would kick in on March 1, 2020

The Marine Environment Protection Committee has green-lighted the ban and final adoption is expected to come on Friday
