Genco to install scrubbers on 17 capesizes
Another dry bulk owner has revealed plans to install scrubbers on its largest vessels. Genco, which owns 64 ships, will pay $34 to run its capesize fleet with scrubbers to comply with the 2020 sulphur cap rules. The company expects that based on the vessels’ trading patterns and fuel consumption levels, the scrubbers will yield a swift payback period
The dry bulk owner has options to install scrubbers on another 15 vessels and expects each scrubber to cost around $2m
