Europe set to import more US soyabeans
The latest export figures from the US Department of Agriculture show a distinct rise in soyabean imports by European countries from the US so far in the marketing year. Market participants expect higher volumes to be heading to Europe later in the year, although the tonne-mile effect is slightly reduced for the dry bulk segment
A grain trade consultant expects that European imports from the US will rise to 4m tonnes in the second and third quarters, from 1.5m tonnes over the same period a year earlier
