Ship recycling falls to 15-year low
A big decline in sales of crude tankers saw volumes drop to 3.6m gross tonnes in the first seven months of 2023, down from 4.9m gt in the same period last year
The scrapping trade is in the doldrums as high freight rates keep clunkers in use, while other former beachgoers are pressed into service in the so-called dark tanker trades
