Eurochem hires Cofco’s La Rosa to run freight desk
Alessio La Rosa appeared in last year’s Lloyd’s List Top 100 people
La Rosa will run the freight desk at fertiliser producer Eurochem
ALESSIO La Rosa is heading to Dubai to join fertiliser producer Eurochem.
Mr La Rosa, who is on gardening leave from his role as head of freight at Cofco International, was featured in Lloyd’s List Top 100 people in shipping.
He will start his new role as global head of freight at Eurochem in March leading a team of five.
Eurochem transports about 14m tonnes of cargo per year and concludes 400-500 fixtures on chartered-in tonnage. The core business is carried out on smaller-sized bulk carriers, though ammonia is carried on chemical tankers.
Mr La Rosa, who spent 16 years in Switzerland, previously worked for Noble Group in chartering and latterly Agri before it was bought by Cofco. He is also a former commodities trader with Louis Dreyfus in Geneva.
Lloyd’s List understands that a replacement head of freight at Cofco is still to be appointed. Cofco has been approached for comment.
