Svitzer plans to have methanol tugs by 2025
It wants to use data, slow steaming, biofuels and eventually methanol to become carbon-neutral by 2040. Doing so will cost ‘hundreds of millions of dollars’
Maersk-owned tug operator Svitzer hopes to build methanol-fuelled tugs by 2024-25 and is looking at ammonia and batteries as well. It has set a target to halve its carbon intensity by 2030
