EU committee to vote on divisive ETS changes

Plans to make charterers pay for carbon credits and extend the scheme beyond the EU will go to an environment committee vote on May 17

The European Parliament struck a compromise deal on changes to the ETS. The ‘charterer-pays’ clause and Ocean Fund are in. But the scope would increase from 50% to 100% of extra-EU voyages by 2028, and the phase-in period is out
