India may look to Russia to plug coal supply gaps

India has a government-mandated push to import more coal, but supply disruption in Australia and Indonesia mean that other sources will be required. Once the EU ban on coal takes effect this summer, that additional supply may be too tempting to refuse

Indonesian industry leaders have told Lloyd’s List that coal shipping activity has increased on India’s coal drive, but it is not increasing as fast as queries are arriving and Indonesian coal producers are hemmed in by domestic market obligations
