Mediterranean to become sulphur emission control zone from 2025
Emissions control area to begin as early as 2025 after 22 countries signatory to the Barcelona Convention agreed to send proposal to IMO next June
If the 22 Mediterranean governments follow through and finalise the plan, this would be the fourth sulphur emission control area established that mandates a switch to marine fuel with 0.1% sulphur
