Seafarers in line for 3% pay rise after employers agree deal with union
The negotiations were made harder by balancing the differing fortunes of tankers and containers, and higher operating costs from the pandemic, with the need to recognise seafarers’ hardships
The seafarers’ union and maritime employers agreed a 3% wage rise for seafarers from next year, after three days of talks at the International Bargaining Forum. The collective pay deal covers workers on some 9,200 vessels flagged with open registries
