Carriers begin to skip closed terminal in Ningbo
Containership Cosco Venice bypassed Ningbo and headed directly to southern China along the coastline, having left Shanghai on August 11, Lloyd’s List Intelligence vessel tracking data shows
Carriers have learnt lessons from the Yantian crisis, during which vessels wasted weeks waiting outside of the port before changing the direction. At least one ship has skipped Ningbo and more are expected to follow. Meanwhile, preliminary investigations suggest containment of the coronavirus infection in Meishan may be easier than the previous outbreak in Yantian that paralysed supply chains
