IMO adopts CO2 intensity reductions to 2026 amid strong opposition
The virtual Marine Environment Protection Committee ran over by about an hour and 40 minutes without the services of interpreters due to the volume of interventions earlier in the day
The IMO agreed that ships should improve their CO2 intensity by 2% annually between 2023 and 2026. However, the decision was fraught with critical interventions from countries including the US and UK and EU member states who sought much higher targets
