Iran’s crude convoys to Syria continue apace

According to Lloyd’s List Intelligence data, two aframaxes exited the Suez Canal on Thursday carrying 1.4m barrels of crude to Syria. Two more vessels are expected to follow behind

The latest in a string of regular tanker convoys delivering between 1.05m-4m barrels of Iranian oil to Syria per month is about to arrive at the Baniyas refinery. The pattern of semi-clandestine shipments operates with well established patterns of AIS signals being turned off, but vessels have now also started increasing security and regularly stop at a suspected covert military ship operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps before entering the Suez Canal
