MAN to develop four-stroke ammonia engine
Germany-based company is also working on separate plans for a two-stroke engine, the type that typically powers bigger ships on deepsea trades
Engine maker will develop a dual-fuel, medium speed, four-stroke engine to run on diesel and ammonia as part of an initiative with the German government. It said there is a need for engine projects to demonstrate ammonia’s viability as a zero-carbon fuel
