Congress calls for closer scrutiny of ocean carriers
Several members of the US Congress have raised concerns about disruptions in the maritime supply chain resulting from the pandemic, as well as many ocean carriers prioritising higher value foreign imports over US agricultural exports
Congressmen also wanted to know if the Fact Finding 29 investigation on International Ocean Transportation Supply Chain Engagement found that ocean carriers and marine terminal operators are operating in compliance with detention and demurrage rules
