Shipping can hit green targets through improved design and efficiency
Finalising new energy efficiency requirements for ships would result in the IMO achieving its target of reducing carbon intensity by at least 40% by 2030 compared to 2008, according to Wood Mackenzie principal analyst Iain Mowat
The Wood Mackenzie statement came as CMA CGM chief executive Rodolphe Saadé said his firm will introduce liquefied natural gas-fuelled containerships on the transpacific trade later this year. ‘We can talk about projects that will happen in 10 or 15 years but what is important is what are the actions we are taking to protect the planet now,’ he said
