Red hot box rates show first signs of cooling
Although indices indicate a cooling of the spot market, shippers were still this week being quoted surcharges on the transpacific of $1,500-$2,000 per 40 ft box
Spot rates on the major east-west trades fall back slightly heading into the post-Chinese New Year period, but whether they will continue on a downward track is far from clear-cut. There is strong demand sentiment and container shipping still has an equipment shortage
