Malaysia’s Port of Tanjung Pelepas throughput rose 8% last year

Growth was driven by exceptional demand caused by the pandemic and supply chain dislocation. The port was able to react quickly to handle the surge in extra transhipment call volume due to the increased demand in Asia and Europe, as well as requests from customers to increase their throughput

The transhipment hub at the southern end of Malaysia is on the cusp of joining the 10m teu club of container ports. PTP has spent $173m on new cranes and approach channel dredging to improve container handling capacity and to accommodate ultra-large container vessels
