VLGC rates steady despite Panama Canal rule change, fleet issues
Very large gas carriers are likely to benefit from Panama canal rule changes and heavy dry docking schedules which will drive freight rates up despite the decline in US LPG and a number of newbuild deliveries this year, according to Poten & Partners
Vessels coming off service and going into the yard will continue to play a supportive role for freight rates as some 70 VLGCs still need to undergo dry dockings in the next 12 months, Poten forecasts
