Over 130 seafarers kidnapped last year, report finds
The IMB said attacks were happening further from shore and more hostages were taken per kidnap attack. It called for better communication between shipping and authorities and urged vessels to remain vigilant
The International Maritime Bureau recorded more kidnappings in 2020 than any previous year, all but five from the Gulf of Guinea. Robbery in the Singapore Straits remains a problem, but there were no attacks off Somalia for another year
