Shippers starved of options as China feeders face shutdown
Coronavirus prevention policies mean that mainland China crews on domestic feeder barges will have to be quarantined for 14 days before being able to return home for Chinese New Year. This has caused many operators to suspend services earlier than normal with knock-on effects on international services
Most mainline carriers have said they will stop accepting transhipment cargo into south China until after Chinese New Year as pandemic policies impact on feeder barge crews and cause an earlier than normal suspension of services
