MSC linked to Bocomm’s supersized boxship orders

Chinese lessor has contracted four 24,000 teu vessels to be fitted with hybrid scrubbers at two CSSC yards. Apart from Bocomm Leasing, MSC is also believed to be in talks with other Chinese lessors for more ultra-large container ships

Shipbuilding sources said the fresh tonnage was backed by long-term charters from MSC, which has been in talk with Bocomm Leasing for months about the $600m worth of orders. MSC has been reported to be planning to build six ultra-large containerships at Chinese shipyards to boost its Asia-Europe network
