Shipping pledges to cut plastic waste
UK Chamber of Shipping said there was believed to be more than 150m tonnes of plastic in the world’s oceans, killing an estimated 1m birds and more than 100,000 sea mammals a year
The chamber has urged companies to ban single-plastics by the end of 2021 to help cut ocean waste. Its new charter has 29 signatories, who have agreed to replace non-essential single-use plastics as soon as possible before then
