Use of LNG as marine fuel faces challenges

High construction cost and low oil prices have made LNG-fuelled vessels commercially unviable, while the effect of their reduction in greenhouse gas emissions remains questionable, said a senior shipping executive

Vikrant Bhatia, chief executive of KC Maritime Hong Kong, questioned the viability of LNG as a green fuel. ‘The only thing green about using LNG is the colour of the money they expected to make,’ he said
