China’s dominance in bulk trades being felt
Dry bulk shipping continues to enjoy strong import demand from China, but coal is still the weakest factor, analysts said at a recent webinar
A rail link between Mongolia and China, which should be completed next year, could see costs fall for transporting coal from Russia, undercutting seaborne volumes. The impact could be up to 30bn tonne-miles by 2025, according to Drewry estimates
